PAC MEETING

Thank you to everyone who attended our PAC meeting on Tuesday.  We appreciate everyone’s attendance and participation.

Congratulations to our two door prize winners, Tina Cameron, and Janya Brulotte.

Meeting details: 

CROSS COUNTRY MEET - IMPORTANT UPDATES & VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The school is looking for 2 more adult volunteers to help race marshal the upcoming cross-country meet.  Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far.

Important details...

  • Race Date: Wednesday May 1st, 2024
  • Volunteer Time: 3:15-4:45pm (just before the race starts until it completes)
  • Location: Centennial Park, 7526 Wallace Drive
  • Sign-Up: HERE

Additional notes...

  • Volunteers report to the official's table upon arrival.
  • Volunteers must stay at their designated post for the entire race.
  • Race time: 3:30-4:30pm 
  • The race will run rain or shine.

* Road Work & Alternative Routes *

The District of Central Saanich is in progress of replacing sewer lines throughout the municipality of Brentwood Bay.  Currently a portion of Wallace Drive is closed between West Saanich and Stelly’s Cross Road.  To bypass construction, follow one of these two alternate routes:

  1. Turn right onto Keating Cross Road, take a left onto Veyaness Road.  Continue along Veyaness, turn left onto East Saanich Road.  Turn left onto either Hovey Road or Prosser Road.  Both roads will connect you to Wallace Drive near Centennial Park, or, 
  2. Take West Saanich Road to Mt. Newton Cross Road.  Turn right onto Mt. Newton and continue to Wallace Drive.  Turn right onto Wallace Drive and continue to Centennial Park. 

Carpooling is recommended.

SEEKING PAC EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

The 2024-2025 PAC Executive is looking for parents / guardians to fill the following vacant roles: President, Vice President, Secretary, Communications, COPACS Representative, and Members at Large.  Each of these roles can be shared. Further detailed information about each role can be found HERE, Section VII, in our PLES PAC Constitution.  If any of these positions interest you and / or you have any questions, please email the current PAC Executive at prospectlakepac@gmail.com before the May 21, 2024 meeting.

SD63 2024-2025 BUDGET SURVEY

Share your thoughts and budget priorities about the upcoming 2024-2025 District budget!

As part of the consultation process, the SD63 Board is asking the community to complete an online survey which closes at the end of day on April 29, 2024. A background document (available here) has been prepared to inform completion of the survey by those unable to attend the Community Budget Meeting.

FREE PARENTING WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS & KINSHIP CAREVIGERS IN BC 

The Parent Support Services Society of BC would like to invite all parents, guardians, and kinship caregivers in BC to participate in free, on-line parenting workshops.  They are offering 5 free workshops throughout the month of May.  Further details can be found on our PAC website at Course: Prospect Lake Elementary School PAC (sd63.bc.ca) under Current News.  Register for these free, on-line parenting workshops here:  www.bit.ly/springworkshopspss

PAC VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Hot Lunches: If you have an hour of free time on hot lunch Friday’s (around 11am), we would love your help.  We need volunteers to help sort food, deliver it to the classrooms, and tidy up afterwards.   Sign-up can be found on the MunchaLunch website.

Please see the Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils of Saanich’s website for links to a variety of free parent online and in-person workshops, and other exciting opportunities happening around our community.

PAC YEAR-ROUND FUNDRAISING

Please note that the following year-round fundraisers bring in money that goes back to the PAC.  The funds raised go towards supporting our children by enhancing their experiences at Prospect Lake Elementary School.

Country Grocer

Please save your receipts from Country Grocer and bring them back to the school.

  • There is a metal bucket on top of the wooden PAC mailbox beside the front desk that you / your child can place them into.
  • Country Grocer provides a percentage back via gift cards from all receipts we return.  
  • The money raised from the sale of the gift cards helps support the current year's Grade 5 class with their costs to cover their year-end camp day.
