PAC MEETING & AGM - TUESDAY MAY 23, 2023
We would like to invite all parents and guardians of our Prospect Lake School out to our next PAC meeting on Tuesday May 23rd, 2023. This is one of our most important meetings of the year as we host our regular PAC meeting starting at 7:00pm, followed by our Annual General Meeting where we will vote in our new executive for the 2023-2024 school year. This meeting will be held both in person at the school in the Learning Commons, as well as virtually through MS Teams (link to follow in the weekly reminders).
At our May meeting we would like to propose two amendments to our PAC Bylaws. Please take a moment to read them over an familiarize yourself with them. There will be a vote at our meeting to approve the following amendments:
AMENDMENT ONE
From Section IV - Executive
Terms of Office
Paragraph 7: No person may hold the same executive position for more than 2 years.
Recommended change: No person may hold the same executive position for more than 4 years.
Rationale: The pool of members willing
to accept a role on the Executive is small and this change would allow those
interested in a position and able to fill roles for a longer period should they
choose.
AMENDMENT TWO
From Section VI - School Planning Council, District Parent Advisory Council, and External committee Representatives - School Planning Council Representatives
Paragraph 1: Three representatives to the school planning council (SPC) must be elected annually from among the voting members who are not employees or elected officials of any school board of the Ministry of Education. One of these representatives must be an elected member of the Council executive.
Recommended change: Remove all School Planning Council references in the title and subsequent paragraphs and renumber the remaining paragraphs accordingly.
Rationale: The School Act no longer includes the requirement for a School Planning Council therefore the positions are not required.
