HOT LUNCH

The MunchaLunch system has the remaining hot lunch dates available for ordering (March thru June).  The hot lunch program is meant to be a fun opportunity for the students.  If this poses a financial hardship for your family, please contact us.

COPACS IS LOOKING FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT HELP

The COPACS website needs an update!

At the last COPACS meeting a committee was formed to build a new website, however, volunteers are needed to help! Do you have any experience with planning, designing, or building a website? Do you consider yourself a "techie"? Are you a creative person looking for a new challenge? Are you looking for a way to give back to your school community?

UPCOMING PARENT & FAMILY WORKSHOPS

#1. In the Know “Connect and Learn”

Every month FamilySmart hosts events for families along with our regular support and mental health system navigation. 

Monthly "In the Know" - We watch a video together and share experiences and strategies that may be helpful to your family.

March "In the Know"

A Conversation for Families About Digital Wellbeing & Mental HealthAs parents It's not easy to know how much time on technology is too much and how to set boundaries that don't create conflict. Join us for a conversation with a digital wellbeing expert to learn some practical solutions to our everyday concerns and challenges around our kids' use of screens and their mental health.  Come together with other families to watch this 30-minute video presentation followed by a facilitated discussion by a FamilySmart Parent Peer Support Worker.

Help For the Hard Times Workshop - for parents and caregivers whose children have been at the ER or have had a hospital stay for mental health or substance use issues.

Details for 1-hour Workshops:

  • Session 1: How to support a safety plan at home (Part 1)
  • Session 2: How to support a safety plan at home (Part 2) 
  • Session 3: How to take care of yourself and your family after a crisis 
  • Session 4: How to find the resources you need

Cost: Free of Charge

#2. Establishing Respectful Relationships and Consent in Our Communities

Sharing these upcoming sessions on the topic of consent and the dynamics of gender-based violence. We will discuss the current state of gender relations faced by our children in both the physical and digital landscape, as well as the potential for exploitation within these relationships.

Topics will Include:

  • What defines consent? A discussion
  • The dynamics of gender-based violence
  • An overview of worrisome content, and how to manage their child’s exposure on popular social media and gaming platforms.
  • The different types of bullying and cyberbullying relationships
  • The pathway to sextortion and human trafficking–important signs to look for.
  • The importance of checking in on our children’s mental health and strategies for success
  • Family suggestions, as well as tips to facilitate positive conversations and outcomes.

BCCPAC PARENT EDUCATION CONFERENCE & AGM

The annual BCCPAC Parent Education Conference and AGM is taking place on May 5 thru 7 at the Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport, in Richmond BC.  If you are interested in attending, detailed information, including registration, can be found on the BCCPAC Website
