Weekly Reminders: Thursday, October 16

  • Whole School Bottle Drive Fundraiser: Saturday, October 18, 1- 4PM. Please ask your family and friends to save their beverage containers (all types). Funds will go to the “Artist in Residence” program for all students. Please hand out the flyers that will come home with your child. Drop off containers near the playground shed. We need volunteers to help sort on the 18th. Sign up with Shannon at <span style="font-family: Arial,serif;" face="Arial, serif">shanepicure@gmail.com</span>.

  • Grade Five Camp Thunderbird Parent & Guardian Meeting: Monday, October 20, 5:15 PM in the library. Please ensure you can attend this meeting if you have a child in Grade 5. The meeting is intended for parents so if possible no students please.

Upcoming Dates to Remember:

  • Bayside Middle School PAC movie: "The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia": Thursday, October 23 at 7 PM at Bayside Middle School. The movie will be followed by a discussion, refreshments and door prizes.

  • Non-Instructional Day: Friday, October 24.  No students in session.

  • Halloween Family Dance: Friday, October 24, 6:00 – 8:30 PM. This is a family dance and adults must stay to supervise their children. No gory or scary costumes please.

  • Family Read In at School: Monday, October 27, 8:45 – 9:15 AM. All family members welcome to come read with our students. We need you!

  • Tuesday, October 28: Our Police Liaison Officer, Sgt. Nick Ross, will give a presentation on Halloween safety to each of our classes.

Friday, October 31:

  • Crazy Hair Day: No student costumes please

  • Hot Lunch: (Ali Baba Pizza). If you would like celiac friendly (gluten free) lunch for your child on hot lunch days, please contact Tracy Johns at 250-665-6685 or

  • Great Pumpkin Run @ 1:15: During the Run children will jog, run or walk around the perimeter of Adam Kerr Field. As they complete each lap they will give one of their name slips to their teacher or a parent volunteer. These will be placed in their class draw bucket. We will need two or three parent volunteers from each class to collect the student name slips. Please let your child's teacher know if you can help.

  • Great Pumpkin Draw @ 1:45: At the conclusion of the Run all students, staff and parents will gather in the gym where names will be drawn to win one of the fourteen LARGE Pumpkins on display. There will be two winners from each class.

  • Great Pumpkin Run/Draw Schedule:

                 -   1:15 All classes gather on the paved area beside Adam Kerr Field

                 -   1:15 – 1:45 Children run or walk as many laps as possible

                 -   1:45 – 2:00 Move to the gym for our Pumpkin Draw

                 -    2:00 – 2:35 Great Pumpkin Draw
