VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR

The virtual book fair is on for only 3 more days – ending Sunday June 12, 2022.  This is a great opportunity to support a local bookstore as well as our school library while getting your children some awesome summer reading materials.  You can access Russell Books’ fairs website to order from their hand selected, specialty stock of books online.  Or, you can head on down to Russell Books at #100 - 747 Fort Street for their full selection.  When purchasing in store, just let the cashiers know that you’re with Prospect Lake Elementary School.  Proceeds raised go directly back to the school library.

HULLABALOO YEAR-END PAC FUNDRAISER

From now until Thursday June 30, Hullabaloo Coffee & Ice Cream is holding a year end fundraiser.  Anytime you, your family, your friends, neighbours, colleagues, etc., order from Hullabaloo just say “Back to the PAC” and 10% from your order will go directly to the PAC.

Who is Hullabaloo Coffee & Ice Cream?  Hullabaloo is a coffee and ice cream food truck located at 5550 West Saanich Rd (at the Red Barn), offering delicious espresso-based drinks, pastries, ice cream, fresh pressed lemonade, and even a little something special for your four-legged family members too!

BEACH DAY

On Wednesday June 15, the WHOLE SCHOOL will travel by bus to Cordova Bay Beach.  The students will get to enjoy some free play on the beach and wading into the water – lifeguards will be present.  Please ensure your child is at the school on time.  If they will be away, please email your child’s teacher and the safe arrival line as early as possible.  Everyone leaves the school, by bus, at 9:45am, and leaving the beach at 2:00pm.

To ensure a fun day is had by all, please help your child pack and prepare with the following items:

  • Students should arrive to school with their first layer of sunscreen on, and a labelled bottle of sunscreen for re-application in their bag.
  • Students should also arrive with layers of labelled clothing appropriate for the weather.  ** Remember, the beach can be a cooler place to play.  Sun suits and sun safe clothing is recommended.
  • LOTS of water and extra food
    • NOTE: Subway hot lunch will be provided for those that ordered.  Your child should still bring extra fluids and food on top of their hot lunch.  If your child is not receiving the Subway lunch, they will need a full lunch as well.
  • Beach and water appropriate foot-ware, no flip-flops please as there are lots of barnacles and rocks and we would like to prevent cuts
  • A labelled hat
  • A towel
  • Sand toys and tools (ex. Bucket, shovel…) labelled
  • Parents and additional family member’s welcome.  If siblings attend, parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring their care.

IMPORTANT: If you are leaving directly from the beach with your child(ren), you must make sure you connect with your child’s teacher to ensure they know.

STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCH

On Thursday, June 23, 2022, our Prospect Lake school families will host a “Family Favourites” potluck lunch.  This is our way to thank the over 40 Prospect Lake Staff for all the support and care they give to our children.

Thank you to all the families that have volunteered so far.  We are still in need of 11 families to prepare their family’s favourite delicious dish / dessert / side dish, and drop it off for the event.  We are also in need of 2 more volunteers to help with set up, assisting with lunch service and clean up.  If you’re interested in volunteering, you can sign up HERE

If you are preparing food,

  • Please drop your contributions off at the Prospect Lake Hall between 8:20-9:00am, or at the school gym between 9:30-10:30am.
  • Please aim to make a dish that serves 8-10 people.
  • Please include a note alongside your dish that includes the following information:
    • Your name / family name
    • The name and origin of the dish or any special information
    • The main ingredients or allergens
    • Any specific instructions about warming or serving

You can pick up your dishes at the Prospect Lake Hall from 2:45-3:15pm the same day.

Thank you for your help in supporting the staff at Prospect Lake School!

GRADE 5 – THANK YOU!

During the Parent Appreciation BBQ last week there were enough funds raised and donated to cover the costs for the Camp Pringle Field Trip and the Yearbook.  The Grade 5 families would like to thank the Prospect Lake Elementary School Community for their support.
