ROADWORK UPDATE for new year and SURVEY if you pick up or drop off at the school

Dear Prospect Lake Parents and Guardians,

This is notice that the District of Saanich will be starting their roadwork project on Prospect lake Rd, Spartan Rd and the intersection on West Saanich Rd beginning in mid-February of 2022.

The area of work is shown below represented by the Red Line and the full plans can be seen here: https://www.saanich.ca/EN/main/local-government/departments/engineering-department/current-projects.html#trans

During the construction of this project we fully expect that there will be significant challenges regarding street parking and congestion accessing the school.

The School District is planning on adding additional parking spaces to Prospect Lake School site. We are currently working out the final details of these plans, but the parking lot will not be complete until the majority of the road construction is completed.

With the construction congestion families will be impacted in regards to accessing the school in the same manner as they do presently.  We will need to reduce the number of vehicles that are accessing Prospect Lake Rd to drop children off at the school site.

In response to the congestion the School District is working on a plan that will see the Prospect Lake Community Hall temporarily being used for a student drop off in the morning and a student pick up in the afternoon for the duration of the construction congestion.

The students will be transferred back and forth from the Community Hall to the School via School District buses. This trip is approx. 500meters and will travel along Sparton Rd, across West Saanich Rd and along Prospect Lake Rd

In addition, there will be School supervision at the Community Hall in the morning and the afternoon.

At this time, we are asking how many families would be interested in using this service so that we can work out the final details of this shuttle.

Another option for families residing in the current busing area for Prospect Lake is busing to and from the school on an existing route. Information on existing routes https://www.sd63.bc.ca/programs-and-services/transportation.  Please include your address for planning purposes.  This is not a registration.

Do you Drop off or Pick up at the school currently?

PLEASE COMPLETE THIS SURVEY by Jan 6 https://www.sd63.bc.ca/prospect-lake-construction-survey to help us with initial planning and whether you are interested in using
