SCHOOL NEWS OCTOBER 1
Our focus virtue for the month of October will be Gratitude. We are grateful for the time this week to collaborate as a staff and district to reflect, increase our awareness and understanding of Truth and Reconciliation in our schools. Orange Shirt day was one way our students and staff showed support for Indigenous Peoples. Have a look on our school Twitter site for some additional photos from last week. ProspectLake@SD63PLAKE
SPORTS NEWS

STUDENT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
PAWS SQUAD for grade 3,4,5 students are well underway. These students have supported our whole school theme of courage this month. Thank you to Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Gladwin for the wonderful bulletin board in the atrium. Have a look on our school Twitter site for some photos of bulletin board in the school. LUNCH MONITORS We had a lot of interest from our Grade 4/5 students to volunteer as helpers in classrooms during eating time. If your Gr4/5 child is interested for later in the year, please see Ms. Ko to sign up.
MORNING WALKERS We have a great group of Gr4/5 students welcoming students in the morning and walking them from the crosswalks to the supervised playground area or their meeting areas. Please say good morning to them!
NEW PROVINCIAL HEALTH ORDER
As you may have heard, the Provincial Health Officer (Dr. Bonnie Henry) provided an update today to the Provincial COVID-19 Communicable Disease Guidelines for K-12 Settings. You can find the announcement HERE.
Beginning on Mon Oct 4th, all students in B.C. schools will be required to wear a mask. This measure builds on the existing guidelines that currently apply to students in Gr 4-12. So, beginning on Monday students in K-Gr 3, like their peers in Gr 4-12, will now be required to wear a mask in classrooms, common areas and on the school bus. If you have a child in K-Gr 3, we would ask that you provide them with a mask beginning on Monday. However, we have been able to secure some disposable masks for young children and plan to have these available in our schools on Monday as well.
