YEAR END MESSAGE

Hello Prospect Lake Families,

To say this year has brought challenges is an understatement!  As I reflect on the year of challenges, there are also many silver linings that come to mind.

Our amazing staff were able to provide a safe, calm and caring space for your children.  The academic and social learning that occurred this year has been exceptional and this is reflected in the final report cards that I have been reading.  We had uninterrupted learning time all the way up to the last week of June!

Our community of parents showed staff and students their great support with words of encouragement, following health and safety guidelines and acts of kindness throughout the year.  Thank you to our hard-working PAC executive for fundraising and support in so many ways.

Our students worked incredibly hard on their academics this year.  They learned to persevere through the challenges of cohorts, masks, restrictions on field trips and school events.  We have loved having face to face connections all year with our students.  They have become experts at handwashing too!

An additional silver lining is our Elementary School Daytime Custodians!  The district has prioritized this in the budget and will continue into next year!

GOODBYES   Although we wish to keep all of our staff, we say goodbye to some of them today.  We are grateful and appreciative for all they have given to students and contributed to our school community.

Mrs. Stana White (Gr2/3) joined our staff this year and created a wonderful learning environment for her class.  She will be missed and we wish her good luck as she patiently waits for an assignment in the upcoming year.  We cross our fingers to have her back at Prospect Lake one day.

Mrs. Christina Filipovic (Gr2/3) was always willing to step in when needed.  She partnered with      Mrs. White and Mrs. Russell this year. We will miss her calm, kind and positive presence.  Wishing her good luck next year and we hope she’s back with us again.

Mrs. Heather Bossence (Gr2 and LA) has been a part of our staff for the last few years.  We appreciate her time as Mrs. Lail’s partner and small group support for our students for extra support.  Thanks for coaching modified basketball intramurals for our Gr4/5’s this year.  We are hopeful for her return too.

Mrs. Rene Ozi (EA) joined us this year and worked to support in both intermediate and primary classes.  We wish her good luck in her next assignment and her travels next year.

Mrs. Laurel Evans (Gr5) has had a stellar 23 year teaching career. We congratulate Mrs. Evans on her retirement.  It’s hard to say goodbye to one of our pillars who has promoted our garden and nature spaces.  She will be busy with new adventures traveling, boating, and gardening.  She will be so missed by students and staff.   Happy retirement!

I want to extend a big thank you to our entire Prospect Lake Community for your care and support in what was truly an extraordinary year and a half.  Wishing everyone good health and time to reconnect with friends and family this summer.
