Spring Blast Planning: It’s all hands on deck as we start planning our fabulous Neon Spring Blast Dance & Silent Auction which will take place on Friday, May 27. Mark you calendars now! Our school holds this event every two years and it is a wonderful way to connect as a community and our largest fundraiser.

The Spring Blast’s success is entirely dependant upon parent and family participation. There will be many ways for families to be involved. Come learn what we are planning and add your ideas at the January 21 PAC meeting. More details will follow.

Grade 4 Parents: By now you should have received notice of the upcoming Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) taking place between January 11 and February 19. Recipes & Tips

Apple Oatmeal Crumble

Ingredients:

500 grams all purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

250 grams dark brown sugar

500 grams oatmeal

400 grams melted butter (soft, so it's like liquid)

Preheat oven at 340 F.

Mix dry ingredients with the melted butter until the mixture forms large crumbs.

Peel and cut six to eight large apples quite small. Add a bit of cinnamon.

Put 2/3 of the dough in a large greased (or parchment paper) baking pan and press into the bottom.

(I used one 13x9 and one 9x9 pan).

Add the apple pieces, and cover them with the remaining dough (1/3)

In the middle of the oven. Bake for 1 hour untill top is lightly browned. Transfer to rack and let cool

until firm, about two hours. Cut into small squares.
