School News  

 

November PAC Meeting: Join us for this month’s PAC meeting on Monday, Nov 16. We will serve snacks and refreshments at 6:45 PM and the meeting will start at 7:00 PM. In addition to the Principal’s Report and a discussion about upcoming PAC events we will also have Teacher Bev Barradell speak about how best to support your child as they learn to read & reading recovery. We especially welcome primary year’s parents to join us at this meeting. 

 

Art Cards Orders: If you are on the fence about ordering art cards this year take a look at the samples on the bulletin board in the meeting area, The cards are a wonderful keepsake of your child’s artwork as well as a means of supporting our little school. Please give order forms to your child’s teacher in an envelope and make cheques out to PLES PAC. Questions? Please contact Shelly McIntyre at shellmci9@gmail.com. Orders are Due on Wednesday, November 18!

 

Clothing Orders: Sample sizes of Prospect Lake clothing are available for viewing on a rack in front of the computer lab. Orders are due on Friday November 20.

 

Ongoing Fundraisers:


Cobs Bread: Mention Prospect Lake School when purchasing, we get 5% back.

Country Grocer receipts & Canadian Tire money: drop to the bin on Mrs. Blackwell’s desk.

Coop Gas & Grocery: use Member # 79184.

Red Barn cards: $50 cards will be available for purchase each month. School makes $5 per card sold.

QSP Magazines: For each order made using our group online code 4297669, our school earns $10. Please share with friends and family.

 

Grade 4/5 Families


Camp Thunderbird: There will be a meeting to discuss Camp Thunderbird on Monday, Nov 16 from 5:45 to 6:45 PM with Mr. Guiguet. All Grade 5 parents are encouraged to attend. The Glanford Bottle Depot has an account set up for Grade 5 students with money going towards Camp Thunderbird.

Science World Bottle Drive: Monday is bottle exchange day for Grade 4/5 to raise funds for the Science World field trip in the Spring. Gather all your bottles/cans/juice boxes etc and have your child drop them off in the classroom where Tiana Dupuis will collect them.

We Need Your Help

 

Book Fair: Ms. Bourdon is still in need of help for the upcoming book fair. She is looking for volunteers to help out from Nov. 26-Nov. 30 in the library. If you are available to help out with set up/clean up, collecting payment and/or helping find items and organization, please email Melissa at mbourdon@sd63.bc.ca or sign up on the signup sheet posted in the library.

 

Morning Watch – a few mornings a month for 45 mins.

Sports Equipment room – 2 x /year, sort equipment, repair as needed

Recipes & Tips 


Parmesan Meatballs

Meatballs:

1 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Sprinkle of garlic salt

pepper and salt

1 egg

1 lb. ground beef 

Mix together and shape into meatballs. Place in 13x9 inch baking dish, not touching.

Sauce:

1/2 cup water

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 vinegar

1 tsp. dry mustard

1 Tbsp Cornstarch 

Mix together and heat on stove until sugar is dissolved and feels like it will thicken. Pour over meatballs and cover dish with lid or tin foil. Cook 350 degree over for 1 hour, turning meatballs over after 1/2 hour.
