Neon Spring Blast will feature a toy table this year. This is a great chance to do some spring
cleaning and clear out those items your kids don't play with anymore... So that
you can make room for new ones! Any gently used children's toys and books
would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the
Grade 5 students should get their Memory Book questions in. Deadline is fast approaching. Contact Christine Carrigan if you have any questions.
It will be PAC election time soon! If you are looking for a great way to get involved in your children’s education look no further. As per our PAC bylaws, each position becomes vacant at the end of the term; therefore, all positions are open and available. All positions may be shared by more than one parent/guardian. More details about how to submit nominations to come soon.
Recipes & Tips
MUSHROOM LENTIL BURGERS
1 tsp.
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
½ tsp.
1 can lentils, drained and rinsed (you can also cook lentils)
½ cup quick-cooking rolled oats
3 Tbsp.
2 Tbsp.
¼ tsp.
4 lettuce leaves
4 hamburger buns
In non-stick skillet, heat oil over medium heat; cook onion, stirring occasionally, for 4 minutes or until softened. Add mushrooms and thyme; cook, stirring for 4 minutes or just until starting to brown. Let cool slightly
In bowl, mash lentils coarsely; stir in mushroom mixture, rolled oats, cheese, pine nuts and pepper. Shape into four ¾ inch thick patties.
In skillet or on greased grill, cook patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown. Sandwich with lettuce in buns.
Makes 4 servings.
