Monday, February 29: Donations for Raffle Basket Due.Please bring in your raffle basket donations (an item or small amount of cash) for the raffle to be held at the Musical on March 10. Each class has a theme and labelled boxes are in each classroom. (Please see below for class themes)

Thursday, March 3: Mother’s Day Flower Basket Orders Due

Monday, March 7: PAC Meeting. 7:00 in the school library. All are welcome! Saanich Police School Liaison Officer Cordell Phillips will join us to discuss the school liaison program. Come at 6:30 to learn "String Art" with Michele Hibbens, some fun and easy ideas for "screen-free" family fun.

Tuesday, March 8: Rats Musical Performance Dress Rehearsal 1:00 PM

Mother’s Day Flower Basket Sale: By now you should have received an order form for this great fundraiser benefiting Grade 5’s Camp Thunderbird trip. Please send in your completed order form and payment by March 3 making sure that you make cheque out to School District 63 (not to PAC). Delivery will be at the school on Thursday, May 5 from 3-4 PM and Friday, May 6 from 8:15 to 9:00 AM. Thank you! 

Purdy’s Chocolates Fundraiser: You should also have received the order booklet for Purdy’s chocolates. Online orders must be in by March 3. Delivery will be at school on Friday, March 11 and sent home with your child unless otherwise specified. Spring Musical: Thank you to all of you who have already brought props for our Spring Musical! If you want to see what other props are still needed please got to: http://flask.io/j5vR9 

Is your child part of the cast or crew of the Musical? We would like to plan and host a cast and crew party after the afternoon performance on Thursday, March 10, but we will need some families to take this on.  Please reply below. 

Staff Appreciation Luncheon Help Needed: We need a team of volunteers willing to plan, prepare and host the Staff Appreciation Lunch on June 8. We usually serve about 25 people. Last year we served Greek food, the year before Trinidadian food.  There are many possibilities depending on what the team of volunteers would like to do. A potluck may work well? Costs will be covered by the PAC. This is a fun way to get to know and thank our staff. Interested? Please reply below. 

Grade 4/5 Science World Field Trip Update: The bottle/can collection has raised approximately $850 so far to go towards this field trip! Keep bringing in those recyclables on Mondays. Thank you! 

Learn to Read Books: Please keep an eye out on the school website for the work party announcement to finish covering the readers once we’ve received supplies. 

Recipes & Tips 

JOAN’S CHICKEN CASSEROLE 

3 lbs boneless chicken breasts- cooked (use any type chicken pieces)

1 cup chopped celery

1 can sliced water chestnuts

1 Tbsp. finely minced onion

1 (10 ½ oz. can) Cream of Chicken Soup

1 cup reduced fat mayonnaise

8 oz. sour cream

2 Tbsp. lemon juice

½ tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper or to taste

Crushed Potato Chips (plain)

Paprika 

Cut cooked chicken into bite size pieces.

Mix chicken with remaining ingredients, except potato chips, paprika.

Pour chicken mixture into greased 2 quart casserole dish.

Top with potatoes chips, sprinkle with paprika.

Bake uncovered, 350 degree oven for 30-40 mins.

6-8 servings. 

Freezes well before/after cooking

Good with non or low fat ingredients.
